Manchester United are reportedly planning to fine their players for deliberately avoiding the club’s sponsorship event.
The Red Devils stars were said to have protested turning up late for their last two Champions League meetings which ended up fetching them just one point out of a possible six.
They drew against Valencia while Juventus edged them out by 1-0 at Old Trafford in their second and third matches respectively.
SunSport quoting the Mail however report that the preparations didn’t go down well with the players and staged a protest by avoiding the sponsorship event.
The event was supposed to see commercial partners rub shoulders with the big boys on Friday but were left disappointed.
According to the publication, some of the VIPs flew in for the event scheduled to be staged at the academy building at Carrington.
However, United chiefs have expressed their unhappiness over the situation and are expected to take action soon.
A source told the Mail: “These sponsors pay a lot of money and this is an event which is taken seriously.
“United have a fantastic relationship with their commercial partners and this did not go down well at all .
“The refusal is seen as a one-off aimed at making a point.”
