Residents of the area told Premium Times that  the soldier, a flight Lieutenant simply identified as Abubakar, and five other persons, were killed during a raid on their community.

A witness, Yakubu Abubakar, said, “They shot and injured flight lieutenant Abubakar, at his arm, five others were also injured.”

The gunmen reportedly stormed  the village on Monday night, through a maize farm and shot sporadically at the residents in the wee hours of Tuesday. But residents said the attackers  were repelled by the STF.

Another tale says a  70-year old man was killed in the community during an attack on the same community on Saturday night. The Media officer of the STF, Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed the death of the soldier and five others.
